Criminal Court on Friday ordered the remand of two individuals arrested during a youth-led protest held Thursday night in Male’.
Aishath Shiman Ahmed and former Deputy Minister of Youth Abdulla Mahzoom Majeed were taken into custody after police dispersed demonstrators calling for justice for Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed, who fell from a building Male’ onto the roof of a warehouse
Police said Mahzoom, 28, a Lawyer was arrested for obstructing police duties, disobeying orders, and attempting to assault an officer. Shiman, 19, was detained for disobedience and obstruction of duty.
